**After the Kraken was dealt with, the slightly battered ship finally reached English shores. It was time to thank the Captain for everything he had done, say farewell, and put KAITO's wheelchair to the test. They're unloading everything they'll need for exploring.**

[he blinks. He's not sure what the difference is exactly, but he thought a stab wound would do more damage. Maybe it was the human in him. He holds up the motherboard the Doctor gave him, stepping a bit closer]

[And there she goes, nodding and taking note of everything with a cheerful demeanor. She reaches into her drawer to pull out a few components, the ones specifically damaged, to replace the broken ones. They looked like colorful batteries and plugs.

With her tools, she begins soldering parts and removing others from the new one and sets them aside. Then she does the same with the one Kaito has. She occasionally uses a can of air to spray it clean, something KAITO has a little problem with.]

Might wanna check 'im for plant-life, later, [she says humorously.] He might have a garden somewhere in his sleeve.

[he watches with interest. A can of air?]

[little chuckle] Wouldn't that be embarrassing?

[Compressed air, to be exact! It's powerful enough to blow away dusty bits, but more gentle than using a rag.]

Just imagine it -- he's talking and suddenly an ivy flies out and hits you in the face.

[after laughing at the mental image, she quiets down a little to work on the part. It's a little meticulous, but she seems to be doing it well and quick enough.]

I promise that's never happened.

There we go. [She pulls back from her work.] What do you think?

[well, his eyes are shining a bit as he stares down at KAITO. Maybe it looks like it's supposed to look... he isn't sure exactly but it definitely seems to be an improvement. He might even say he looks good as new, but - well, he's never seen him new. So he nods vaguely.]

Can we turn him back on now? Does he need to rest?

[She can't help but chuckle.] Give it a little longer. The computer's still moving his backup data to his primary database. If we start 'im up now, he'll be too new.

Should be done in a bit. [She looked over at the progress bar on the monitor.] I'll tell you when he's ready.

"Too" - You mean, he wouldn't remember anything?

... Thank you. [oh there's a bar? HOW CONVENIENT. hnng suspense he hopes everything goes over right D:]

Nope! [she says with amusement.] He'd be completely fresh. Straight outta the box.

Well, now that we're on the subject, I should warn you that there's always a risk of that happening when you mess around with important things like this. They won't die, but you'll lose them in a different sense.

[She claps her hands together and grins at him.] Hopefully we won't have to worry about that!

Like a blank slate, huh... that would be so weird.

[you're sure cheerful about this. But then, she never seems to be un-cheerful.]

What about his backup, though? Before he went into hibernation, he started to have difficulties... does that mean he can't use that anymore if something happened?

He was having problems because of these. [she picks up a small, almost battery-looking object.] They were attached to the motherboard, remember? It helps stabilize everything and keeps a robot from crashing.

They were a little worn down, that's all. I replaced them all, so this ol' man should have no problems with his backups or his primary functions in the future.

The only thing I'd keep an eye on are still things like his joints. I didn't really mess with those -- or else I'd end up skinning the poor guy -- but I'm sure they're getting on in age.

Ah, that's good. The joints, huh...

[Well, that should be fine, right? Kaito can work on those himself without worrying about damaging his mind. For what it is, it's relieving to hear. It was also kind of funny to hear her talking about him like he was an old man. Although technically, KAITO was.]

I'll keep it in mind.

It's right on his headset. Push it and it'll get him started again.

[After Sonika is done laughing to translate, Kaito is looking embarrassed...

But that's not important right now. He gulps and moves closer, kneeling a bit to have a good look at his earphone. He'd never really noticed the button on this thing... brushing some hair behind KAITO's ear, though, there it was.]
