**After the library of doom made Kaito cough his lungs out, our Kaito Team has decided to go back to the city behind the wall. Kaito's illness has gotten much worse due to his weakened immune system and sleeping outside all the time. But now, here they are. He finds himself staring up at the wall with mixed emotions of relief and dread. How in the hell are they going to sneak in?**

...are you going back out again?

I came back because I got sick while being a geeky derp and choking myself on dust for hours reading books searching some ruins. I'm not giving up.

[emptyseat]

Oh.

[futureforbirds]

I'm sorry... I really think that my father wants me to do this, so that the world can become reunited again and we can all help each other out. And when I'm done, you can see what I've seen for sure.

[emptyseat]

Do you really think so? It's kind of a lot for one person, isn't it?

[futureforbirds]

I'm... not alone.

[emptyseat]

[True, but a trio of Kaito wasn't exactly the most comforting thing in the world.]

Can you really trust them? I know you trust your father, but what about the other guy? You just met him.

If he's really been out there for that long, by himself, who knows what's going to happen? Your father didn't build him.

KAITO's not dangerous. He sings.

[What.]

[futureforbirds]

He sings, he's meant for singing. He wouldn't hurt a human in a million years, cause he wants to be heard by them - by us. I wouldn't have gotten back here without him. I trust him.

[emptyseat]

[She still wants to protest, but Kaito looks pretty serious.]

If you're sure. I can't say much -- I don't know what you guys went through out there. [She shrugged.] I guess he seemed like a nice guy to me, when I first talked to him.

Why would they make something like him for singing? You said you had a singing box. Why didn't they just use that?

[futureforbirds]

Uh...

... KAITO is for singing new songs that people write for him, while the singing box - it's called a radio - is so people can hear already-made songs from far away.

Hey, want to see the radio?

[emptyseat]

[They couldn't just use people for that? She didn't get a chance to ask, though, since the 'radio' caught her attention.]

Sure, I'd like to see it!

[abovethewall]

I will retrieve it. Master should stay in rest mode.

**Mekaito trotted toward the bedroom, opening the door, jumping on the bed, and picking up the radio from the nightstand. Shortly he returned with it, turning up the volume. The song was, like always, in a foreign language.**

[emptyseat]

[She watched it with fascination. A real, little doll going around and doing things. It reminds her of fairy tales with little puppets learning to become people.

When Mekaito brings out the radio she doesn't really know what to think. It literally is a small box, playing what could only be music. After listening for a while, she says:]

That song was in a different language. [She listens again.] It's going a little fast, but I can pick up a few things here and there.

**Kaito was a little surprised. He'd known for a long time that he couldn't understand the radio, but Naomi...**

You can pick up things? Do you know what language this is?

[emptyseat]

English. [She looks up at him.] You didn't study any?

[futureforbirds]

W-well, nobody here really speaks it much or anything...

[emptyseat]

Yeah, but it's still pretty neat. [Naomi smiled, feeling a little childish.] You can have conversations that no-one else understands. It's like a secret code.

Anyway, so you were following this. I wonder where this city is? How far did you go out, before you came back?

[futureforbirds]

We ended up at the coast. There was a ghost town there - the ruins I mentioned earlier.

[There was also Len, but she didn't really need to know about that.]

[emptyseat]

[No, she probably didn't.]

That's amazing. [Even though it's a 'ghost town', just the evidence that they used to live outside the walls was already cool. Naomi crosses her arms and listens to the radio a bit more, closing her eyes while doing so. What kind of city was out there, creating this music?]

It sounds really amazing.

[futureforbirds]

I was pretty excited to find it...

... Oh! But Naomi, if this is English, and the radio lead us to the sea -

- maybe there are people across the ocean. English people.

[emptyseat]

Hmmm. [Her eyes are still closed as she's thinking.] You might be right, but how is that going to work?

[She looks up at him.] Don't tell me your father left you a boat, too.

[futureforbirds]

No, he didn't.

The ghost town had a harbor with some boats, but I didn't look at them, no idea how seaworthy they'd be.

If it's been years, you might want to be careful with that.

I don't want to hear that you've drowned. [She means it.]
