[IC] [Old Radio/Waiting in Earth Crossover]

**Their travels bring them back to the cliff overlooking the ruined coastal city. Though it was the first visit for one of their party members - Miku, whom they'd met back at Kaito's home city. Since she acted so young and carefree, Kaito had tried to make their trip over as fun and happy as possible. But now that they were here, with the ghost town in sight, Kaito's smile sobered. This wasn't just a long camping trip. They had to get serious.

He shoved his hands in his pocket as he stared down on it. They'd probably want to pick up the supplies they weren't able to take last time. And more importantly, he really hoped that the boats in the harbor were seaworthy. The knowledge that their radio was in English was an excellent lead, but it meant that they had to get off of this island.**

[...she didn't know what to think. There wasn't anything more shocking to her than to see a ghost city. She could see how the structures of the building could've been something she saw right before she slept. She could see how the plants grew over everything that used to be paved. She could see how no-one had been there for a long time.

She was young and carefree, but not stupid. This was... the truth.]

[KAITO looked over to where she stood, worried. During their travel, he was able to understand exactly when she came from. He could understand why she was so hesitant now. It wasn't just the environment she needed to get used to, but also the people. They both had to re-learn how to become siblings again.]

Miku...

**Mekaito looked up at Miku, not really understanding the stunned look on her face. He turned back toward the ruins. Nope, nothing had changed with them since before. They were just as time-forgotten as ever. He spread his wings and jumped off the cliff to hover over it a bit. The others had to walk down the hill, but he could just fly over and stand on the nearest rooftop. Which he decided to do, giving Miku a playful wave. He'd decided he liked her, recently.**

[KAITO smiled and tried to comfort Miku.]

Look, Miku.... He's waiting for us.

Let's go down together. We'll be here to help you.

[Hesitating, she nodded at him. It's better that she's not alone. She'd be so scared if she was by herself.

She waved back at Mekaito before addressing Kaito.]

Okay. I want to go with you.

Ah, sure.

[He could tell that it was stunning for her. He'd expected this, so he offered his arm like he'd let her hang off of before. That was what she meant, right? After all, they were all going down anyway...]

[Mekaito sat down on the building, letting his legs swing a little as he watched the other three. His wings were allowing him a short break.]

**So going below deck, they find that there is a bunch of crap down there. Mekaito starts busting crates open like the video game protagonist he is.**

**Kaito... just gets behind Mekaito to see what's in them.

Seems to be rum. Lots of rum.**

... What is this, a pirate ship?

Really? Do you think it really was?

Er, I don't know... I just read about them in books.

I don't think real pirates had computerized ships, but the library at home left out everything about technology, so...

Then maybe it was! [She's kinda excited about this.] I'll tell brother, later.

[She emulates how she's going to do it, too.] Brother, we found lots of rum! Maybe this was a pirate ship!

**he's still following Mekaito around cause Mekaito is doing all the work for them. Found a crate with blankets!**

**So, a while later, Kaito and company are done putting the salvaged stuff into the boat. They managed to find a fishing net somewhere, so that is definitely coming with them. He decided not to bring a rod cause he has no idea how to use it. They also brought signalling devices, Kaito "checked out" more library books, and a lot of other things too. He goes up to see if KAITO's still in the zone.**

[He isn't any more, having disconnected a little while ago. KAITO's sitting in the Captain's seat, rubbing his neck and wincing. It was kinda strange, how that whole connection thing worked. And disconnecting was much harder, leaving him with a stiff neck. It was like he underwent some weird exercise or whatever. He'd have to find a better way to do that.]

**Seems he's back with us.**

Oh, hey!

**... he felt a little bad about that look on his face.**

[He jerks in surprise, not having heard Kaito approach. KAITO quickly drops the hand and greets him.]

Hello. [Kind of... formal, wasn't it? Was he still out of it? Improper disconnections were never good, but still.] How was it?

**he doesn't really pay too much mind to the formality yet and comes a bit closer**

It was work! But there was a lot of stuff below deck, so we didn't have to get much else. How about you?

Everything was fine. [Wait, that came out a little emotionless. Tone, pitch, length of notes. Try again.]

Everything's fine so far. [Much better.] A lot of things are still working, so it should be okay.

**so the first few days of sailing have been pretty chill. They're now in the middle of the ocean. Kaito still has his radio by his side as he wanders around the deck. So at first, it doesn't seem strange to him that somebody is singing.

However, after a moment he notices that it's not the singing box from which the voice comes. He looks around, wondering where that comes from and who it is. It doesn't really sound like Miku, particularly because it sounds like a small chorus of female voices.

Really, really weird.**

[IS THIS WEIRD ENOUGH FOR YOU because if not, a little girl's head is gonna pop up from the water. She's never seen anything like this strange, giant thing before! Not in her life! Of course she has to check it out, singing as she's taking a peek.]

**OH GOD. He suddenly grips the railing of the boat, looking down with wide eyes - almost looks like a siren scene where the song draws you into the sea, but this is not the case, he's just really shocked.**

AHH!

There's someone in the water!! Man overboard --

Wait, where did she even come from!?

**falls backward like a fucking dork.**

What are you doing up there?! [She calls up to the idiot. Is it another merman?] Are you even allowed? Come back down!

**he's rubbing his head and getting back up, confused as hell**

Back DOWN? That's the middle of the ocean-

**he pulls himself up to look back down, peering**

Duh! [She's putting her hands on her unseen hips. Huffing a bit, she dives down to swim and pop up closer to the boat.]

You doofus! You're gonna get in trouble! [Forget about the fact that she's even here in the first place. She wanted to discover this thing herself! He's totally stealing her thunder, here!]
