**So, Kaito, KAITO and Mekaito have been traveling for a short while now. Mekaito is still playing the radio because I guess it has an infinite life cheat or something and trailing behind the others, waiting for commands and giving the occasional input. Kaito is roaming about, staring at all of the pretty flowers and random wildlife with amazement. It's overwhelming compared to the bleakness of his hometown.**

[On the other hand, all of the nature was normal to KAITO. He'd occasionally glance towards any sudden sounds when he heard them, but otherwise he was mainly set of watching what was in front of him. What could be in the rubble. Anything that signified a sign of other humans. Finding one was a miracle enough, and surely that meant there were others out here.

Not that he was being greedy. But this human wanted to find others as well, so he could be excused. Perhaps.]

**eventually Kaito just pauses and puts his hands in his pockets**

... I had no idea all of this was out here.

**he said this thoughtfully, wondering what part of this scenery was unsuitable for human life. Was it possible that the people of his city weren't aware of its existence out here? He wondered if maybe he should go back and tell them of his discovery.

But he already promised KAITO that he'd help him search for other societies - and though he could take him back to his hometown, technology was forbidden there, and so his friend might not be received. Both were important to him...**

[He stops as well, watching the other Kaito.]

You really couldn't see over the walls?

No, not even a little. They were taller than the buildings, and thick. All we could see was a bit of the sky... so the only animals and plants I knew about were brought there a long time ago, bred and grown for consumption. With a few exceptions. **like my bird.**

I could identify some things from textbooks. **points at an insect with yellow wings** That's a butterfly.

But I've never seen one in person before.

Well... it's probably stupid, but.

**No, he wasn't. The thing that he was worried about could hurt KAITO's feelings, but after all, it was too important to overlook, wasn't it?**

... I was just wondering what would happen if we do find more humans. What should I do?

If it's more people living behind a wall without any knowledge of the world outside - I'd have to tell them, and.

**he fidgets. This is the part that bothered him**

....we might mess up again. I'd like to think humanity learned our lesson, but what about future generations? Do we just go through a never-ending cycle of destroying the world and rebuilding it? Well, no, I don't think that's possible...

But anyway, if that happened, then that would be on me, right? It just feels ... kind of heavy.

[KAITO blinked. A program like him, one that was so dependent on the existence of humans, couldn't quite understand.]

But, if you don't, you'll be alone.

Yeah, I know. Stupid, right?

[deteriorated]

[And KAITO does his best to put aside the worries and perform his main function. So he does, singing as lightheartedly as the song requires and trying to at least appear pleasant.]

**and thus, they were able to finish the song! Kaito smiled again when it was over, sighing lightly and looking back at KAITO to see how he felt about it. Singing was KAITO's niche, so it should have opened him up... right? Right?**

That was fun.

[It did make him feel better. KAITO couldn't help but smile a little.]

**so! They've been following Mekaito and the radio for days now. On the way, there was kind of a failed attempt at making fire by Kaito, then Mekaito ttly did it for him because Mekaito is the only useful member of the Kaito squad. 8D and they sort of ... well, we'll say PRACTICED cooking a bird. We're working on it ok

Luckily we still have rations in hammerspace so no hunger pangs just yet. Also, morale is up as the radio seems to make noticeable changes the further they travel! They'd started to see geese in the sky yesterday, and today, the big discovery is made...

A CITY, OMG

They're looking down on it from on top of a cliff. It's next to the ocean, with a lighthouse and some REALLY decrepit looking boats. The city is still kind of big though, stretching out toward the cliff and also wide on the sides. And with such a convenient location, you'd think someone might be able to live there! LET'S CHECK IT OUT GAIS**

[...when did the KAITO Squad turn into the Scooby gang? Anyway. KAITO's fairly used to seeing run down cities, although this one was still pretty impressive in size. He wondered what city it used to be -- if he was still in his home country anymore.

Well, curious thoughts aside, he follows Kaito towards the city. Was the radio responding to something here?]

**What is this Scooby of which you speak, I am far too young and post-apocalyptic to understand this reference**

**anyway, once they've trotted enough so that they aren't looking down on the city anymore, they can see that it's a bit more weathered than it looks from above. Some of the buildings are in a sad shape, and the plant life is a little crazy. But this is all new to Kaito, so he's searching vigorously, poking his head into doors and windows**

... Huh?

**discovery perhaps!?**

**Somehow, Mekaito ended up with the impression that we are splitting up and searching. And since he is CLEARLY independent enough to go off on his own, he's wandering around the city with the radio.

You two are space cadets if you don't notice the lack of sound after a while, but whatever. May have found what it's reacting to.**

[Indeed, the ever-diligent Mekaito has found something. That something is sitting, slumped back against a broken wall, staring into nothing. At first, it looks like it's just someone spacing out or sleeping with their eyes open. However, a closer look shows it's covered in greenery and plant life; vines entwining and weaving through exposed wires, moss growing on one side of the body, and fabric stained with signs of age and dirt.]

**the radio starts making noises! It likes Vocaloids. <3**

**Mekaito approaches the 'something', staring and taking in all the information. He's not sure the other robot is awake, so he doesn't say anything to him, just observes to satisfy his curiosity. But he IS standing rather close.**

sounds like a bummer. Hope things have cleared up by now. <3;

**Mekaito is now flying somewhat low over the city so that he can look at the streets and into windows if their blinds have been open. He is also highly visible, so most likely, both Kaito will see him from their positions**

[Look, up in the sky! It's a-- okay, we won't go there. But, yes, KAITO does notice the little robot swooping about.]

Kaito...!

[It's... really strange to be calling out his own name. He tries to follow the blue to its source.]

:Db ... Big Kaito's going to be catching up later, unless KAITO wants to go get him first.

**following attempts are successful! Once Mekaito's caught sight of KAITO, he hurries over to give him the news**

I found someone.

[After finding Len, they managed to stumble upon an old warehouse filled with salvageable items. The three collected as many useful things as they could, learning from experience and trying to think ahead. Anything that was too heavy could be carried by KAITO (or Mekaito) when the other was too tired, but they still tried to pack fairly light.

It might've been days after the discovery of Len, when they ran into an old library. KAITO hadn't thought much of it at first, but the other Kaito did express his desire to find one. What they were looking for, he wasn't sure. But they were here.

He looked to the human at his side.]

Do you want to go inside?

**Kaito just nodded, his eyes shining with purpose as he reached for the door. To his surprise, it opened easily. That was convenient. Not all of the places had been left unlocked, though they were uninhabited. He had honestly expected that he'd have to break in.

Just like the old house they found Len in, the library showed signs of age. Although it had been closed, so no air had circulated for a while. The staleness made him cough.

But despite that, it had what Kaito had come for. Shelves upon shelves of books. He only hoped they wouldn't crumble in his hand.

There were also the library computers that KAITO had mentioned.**

This is great...

**he looked back at the other two robots, who were looking at him like they had no idea what he was doing there. Kaito looked at his feet in thought for a moment, then turned his vision back**

... Are you coming too, or do you want to do something else? This might be kind of boring.

[deteriorated]

[What was there to do? KAITO looked over to Mekaito. What do you think, little leader?]

[deteriorated]

[When they made it back to the library entrance, KAITO stared at the old doors that kept it closed.]

He's not done yet, [he noted.] Let's go find him.

[Making sure Mekaito was nearby, he entered the building. Everything seemed heavy with dust -- and if KAITO thought it was too dusty, what did that mean for a human? The master must've been determined to learn something in order to stay here in this environment.]

Kaito? [he called.] Are you still here?

**a heavy cough could be heard from the back of the room, and after a moment -**

Y, yeah! Just a moment...

**Kaito is in between bookshelves, pulling another two off the shelf. One of the library computers was on - seems he was experimenting with it, there's a book next to it as though he was following instructions. Kaito was smart enough to open one of the library windows, so the books he's been reading are piled around near the table closest to it. It doesn't seem like the window was enough though - his cough seems to be chronic, but he's acting like he hardly notices it.

If the books were to be examined, it seems that Kaito's been studying everything the library has to offer on computers and robotics, and some books that are just about technology in general. One of them is on how radios work for example - maybe he wants to see if they can make more use out of the one they have.**

**emerging from the bookshelves, he coughs again and waves**

What's up?

[What's with the deep coughing? He pauses to watch Kaito curiously before glancing at the area. The place was... well, it was a mess when they first came in. It was definitely a mess now that there was some activity to stir things up. Especially this dust.]

Are you all right? [His attention is back at Kaito now.] Do you need help?
